Pastry rolls with cheese and sausage



Ingredients

500 gr / 1 lb flour

300 ml lukewarm milk

1 egg, separate the yolk and the white

1 tbsp sugar

9 gr / 0.3 oz yeast

1 tbsp salt

100 gr /3.5 oz butter

100 gr /3.5 oz edam cheese, grated

100 gr /3.5 oz sausages of your choice


Instructions

In a bowl, add the milk, the yeast, the sugar and 2 tbsp of flour.

Mix them well and put a towel over the bowl.

Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes so that the yeast will be activated.

After 10 minutes, add the salt, the egg white, and the flour.

Knead the mixture for at least 5 minutes and add a little butter.

Knead the dough for 2 more minutes.

Put cling film on the bowl and let the dough rest for 1 hour.

After an hour, put in on the counter.

Knead it a bit and cut it into 8 pieces.

Make 8 balls and open each one as a sheet with 10 cm diameter.

Put them on a plate.

Take the first pastry sheet, grease it with some butter and add cheese and sausages.

Layer the other ones by repeating the process.

Use the last sheet as a cover on top of the others and grease it with butter.

With a rolling pin, flatten it until it has a diameter of 30 cm.

Roll the final sheet and cut it as you want. Put the pieces in a pan with baking paper.

Grease the pieces with the yolk and some milk and let them rest for 20 minutes.

Bake them for 25-30 minutes at 190 ◦C / 375 ◦F

Once out of the oven, cover them with a towel for 10 minutes so that they will remain soft.
