The best recipe for homemade bread!


Ingredients


1 kg / 2lbs flour

300 ml lukewarm milk

300 ml lukewarm water

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp yeast

1 ½ tbsp salt

50 ml olive oil

1 egg


Instructions


In a bowl, add milk, water, sugar, yeast and 2 tbsp of flour. Mix the ingredients and let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.


After 10 minutes have passed, add salt and the egg white and mix them.


Add the rest of the flour slowly and knead the mixture until you have formed the dough.

In the end, add a bit of oil and knead again.


Cover the bowl with cling film and let the dough rest for an hour.


After an hour, separate the dough into two pieces. You can make two loaves of bread with these proportions.


Grease a surface and put the dough on it. Knead it for 2-3 minutes.


The separate it into 6 pieces and make 6 small balls.


With each ball form sheets with a 10 cm diameter and fold them in three parts.


After all six are ready, stretch them like ropes, at about 30 cm.


Twist the first two together and twirl them.


Braid the other 4 together and form a wreath around the twirled dough.


Let the dough rest for 30 more minutes.


Spread the egg yolk with some oil on top of it.


Bake it in a preheated oven, at the lowest part at 190 ◦C / 375 ◦F.


Once it is out of the oven, cover it with a towel for ten minutes.
